Home Soon!
I finish up my finals and head home on Wednesday! I'm glad that I get to go home for awhile, I love that I'm gonna be home for more than one weekend. It's gonna be weird being home for so long and then coming back to new classes, but I'm sure it will all be ok. I'm ready for the Christmas spirit and the big tree in our house, I mean the one in our dorm is cute, but its really small lol

Syllabus Assignment
Course Goals ~ Introduces and develops understanding of principles of rhetoric; basic research methods; elements, strategies, and conventions of persuasion used in constructing written and multi-modal texts. Upon completion of English 103 students will:
1. I feel confident about persuasion, on how to state your ideas and back them up effectively, so that if/when they are argued aganist that I can defend myself.
2. I understand this because I learned that visual texts are just as persuasive as verbal texts, if not more.
3. I don't feel like I understand this. I pretty much draft all my papers the same way.
4. I understand this better. I know that I need to keep my audience in mind as I write, I use to not do that.
5. I kind of get this. I know I need to use research, but I didn't really use any in my rhetorical analysis.
6. I am a lot better at this, especially in my own writing, I pay a lot more attention now to what I write.
7. I do understand this, and I know how to be professional when reviewing someone elses paper.
8. I understand how to do this, I do my own work and I need to take responsibilty for my work, both good and bad.
9. I feel like I know how to do this, but I didn't feel like this course helped me in it any.
Course Content & Format ~ The content and format of English 103 are designed to enable students to achieve the course goals; specifically, students in English 103 will:
1. I think I understand this well. McArdle had us do this a lot with different forms of medium, like text, video, ect.
2. I feel like I can do this well also, we also worked a lot on this in class my peer reviews and intensive reviews.
3. I feel like we didn't do anything collaboratively, we worked in groups but it was pretty much our opinions on their papers being presented.
4. I feel like we did this all year long, but it really helped, especially having my paper being intensively reviewed. It helped me feel really good about my paper.
5. I feel like I can effectively present my arguement after analyzing something.
6. I feel like I can do this pretty well, I'm still not so great with the pathos, ethos and logos but I feel like I can still analyze things well.
7. I feel like we did this very well, I liked that the different assignments were not alike at all.
University Core Curriculum Goals ~ The central purpose of University Core Curriculum is to enable men and women to live rich and satisfying lives and to undertake the broad responsibilities of citizenship in a free society. Although The University Core Curriculum seeks to discover and nurture individual talents, its primary emphasis is preparation for roles people share as human beings and as members of family and community groups. Thus, students will be able to:
1. I feel like I can participate in this well.
2. I feel confident about this.
3. I feel like I am confident in myself, but I am also sensitive to other people's feelings.
4. I don't feel like I have accomplished this well.
5. I feel like I can do this well, I like to work with people.
6. I feel confident about this

Special Things both Home and Away!
Last Sunday I went to Walmart and bought my roomate and I a purple christmas tree and I decorated it with pink and green. I know it was before thanksgiving but I thought what the heck! when we get back it will be after thanksgiving. The other day I went and got my younger brother and I both trees for our rooms. We put up a big tree in the living room but my family wasn't going to do it while I was home, so I thought this would be a fun way to have some christmas fun. So now I got 2 trees one at home in Muncie and one at home in Salem.

Thanksgiving Argument!
So Thanksgiving this year was nice. My boyfriend and I went to his family’s Thanksgiving in the afternoon, and then drove the hour and a half drive down to my grandparent’s house for dinner that night. There weren’t really any arguments except for the one that happens every year. My boyfriend’s mom (Diana) and her brother (Andy) always get to talking about high school sports. Andy thinks he knows a lot and in the right he does, but both of their daughters play high school basketball, and are both very well. So every year they “discuss” how each team is doing and they do a pretty good job on building their own credibility. Diana talks about how she has been watching it ever sense she was little and both of her children have played basketball since they were young. She is also good friends with almost every girl’s parents on her daughter’s team, and has been watching most of these girls play together for years. Andy’s credibility that he builds is based on the fact that he played sports in high school. Both their daughters play both for their school and play AAU basketball. They sit and compare the players, Diana knowing more or less how the girls and feeling emotionally which affects the way they play, and Andy pointing out what they do right or wrong on the court. They both play to each other’s emotions by either agreeing or disagreeing with each other, fueling either more intense emotions or calming them down. They both do a pretty good job on build their Ethos, Pathos and Logos. They use the logic of the game, they point out why they know more than each other, and they play to both each other’s and the audience’s emotions. It defiantly isn’t the most fun argument to listen to, but it’s a reoccurring one every year.

Feels like a new room
Last night my roomate and I decided to redo our room. We were kinda only wanting to wanting to move our beds but we ended up taking apart our wardrobes and moving the bottoms over to our mirror and moving those dressers over by my desk. I like it now, it's cool and I feel like i have my own little cuby since my bed in under hers :)
